Driving test tips
If you want to pass your driving test first time you will need to prepare yourself fully for the test ahead of time. You will need to do some research and make sure that you are fully prepared to drive on the day of the test and are fully capable of completing the test successfully. Here are some driving test tips that you may find useful.
- Before you book a driving test, ask yourself are you really ready to do the test and start driving. You may be eager to get behind the wheel of your very own car and be fully independent transport wise, but is it really the best idea yet? Driving tests cost money and time and if you are not prepared then you will lose these assets during the test.
- Once your test is booked and you are going to go through with the test then you should familiarize yourself with the area where the test is to be taken in. You should be provided with a route and even a map of the test area. If you haven’t been given these by the test centre then ask them for this information. You have the right to know these details before you do the test. You can take a look at the route and then plan it in your mind. Look out for any errors that you may make when driving through this area. Take a qualified driver with you and drive the test route ahead of time. Remember, practice makes perfect and you will be able to drive faultlessly through the area later on the in the real test.
- You may book a driving lesson and have your driving instructor talk you through how to drive perfectly through the area. This is not cheating ad they should be happy to provide this service for you. After all, they are charging you a fee for this service. You can use the skills you learn here for similar roads and journeys in the future.
- Have a confident attitude. This will do wonders for your driving skills on the day of the test. You should avoid being nervous and try to think clearly. You will most likely not be nervous when you are driving for real so make sure that you show the examiner that you can do it. If you are nervous when you are driving alone then you should not be taking your test yet.
- If you make a mistake during the test do not become negative and think that you have failed. Just carry on to the best of your ability. If you don’t then the amount of mistakes you make are likely to snowball and you may fail your driving test.
- Try to forget that the examiner is there. It may be hard, but other than their instructions make sure that you don’t pay too much attention to them. Definitely make sure that you do not try to read what they are writing.
These driving test tips should help you in your quest to be passing your driving test first time. Remember these tips for passing your driving test and you should be a qualified driver in no time at all! Also while learning to drive STUDENT DRIVER signs notify other drivers that you are learning to drive. This makes learning to drive much less stressful and safe!

This is another post that is going to deal with the issue of the driving examiner. This is quite a big one, because you have to please this guy to make him tick all the boxes. If you do even the slightest thing wrong it is most likely that he will put a cross on his clipboard rather than a nice tick, so make sure you pay attention to these tips.

Now to make it clear here I am talking about the practical test, not the theory test. First of all the procedure in the driving test waiting room is such that you should remain seated until they call your name and then they will ask to see your driving licence. Not all driving instructors are created equal. Some will let you off with a few things, whilst others will be very picky. Some will notice more faults than others, so you just have to do the best you can and try to avoid making mistakes.

The average pass rate is less than half and its even lower for first timers. That is why I set up this site. I thought I would provide some tips since I manage to pass my own driving test theory and practical the very first time. The practical I think is the hardest for most people. You are always so nervous and stressed out! But the important thing to remember is that this will decrease your performance behind the driving wheel. You should relax and try to be cool because you can focus more on your driving. This is actually more like how you will be when you are on the road for real.
Check your mirrors and do all your observations correctly. This is the number one reason for failure. Driving instructors love to fail people for not checking all the signs and mirrors correctly. Make sure you are already in the habit of doing this anyway. It should come naturally. the more natural you are when you are taking your driving test, the more likely you are to succeed and pass first time.
Forget you are actually doing a test and just focus on driving properly. Don’t be nervous and stressed otherwise you will most likely make too many mistakes. Any mistake at all is not good in a driving test.

The driving test is probably one of the most nerve wracking things you can go through in your life. Passing it is very important. It can work out expensive if you do not pass first time. So here are my top tips to make sure that you pass driving test first time and don’t make any mistakes.

Learn the road signs. I was being nagged to do this by my relatives. They kept saying that this was an important part of learning to drive. I was more interested in the driving part itself. But I soon learned that this was important too. You can get a book from the library or off ebay really cheap to help you. This stuff came up a lot in the driving test theory questions exam. As well as possible case scenarios whilst driving.
Ask questions. Don’t be afraid to ask questions from your driving instructor if you don’t understand, or if he or she is too vague. My driving instructor wasn’t the best. I actually got the distinct feeling he was dragging out my lessons. Its not hard to realise why when they get paid £22 per hour for each lesson. This is the just the way typical driving lesson prices are. But you are paying them a lot of money so make sure you get the best out of your lessons. Really make them work for their money
Make sure you are really prepared and practised before you go into the test. Whether practical or theory. If you don’t think you are ready then don’t book your test yet. Its best not to rush. Its better to take an extra lesson than to pay for your test twice.
There is a good way to see if you are prepared for the test and that is to check for a mock driving theory test. These are a good way to see what the questions are like and whether you can answer them. You can find them online. Each test is usually around 50 questions long and covers a range of different driving information that you should know before you even think about taking your test for real. Once you have passed the mock test then you can move on to the real thing.
One thing that I noticed when I took my test is that the questions are mainly based on case scenarios. They ask a question like what should you do in this situation etc etc. The driving theory books should have all of these answers that you need.
